IChemE (Institution of Chemical Engineers) is a global membership organisation for chemical engineers and process engineers with a membership of around 43,000 members in 120+ countries. We are the only organisation licensed to award Chartered Chemical Engineer and Professional Process Safety Engineer status and have offices in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand and the UK.
tce is our magazine published monthly for our members and we are currently looking for an enthusiastic journalist to join our editorial team on a full time basis. This role also could be perfect for a recent science or engineering graduate, or a more experienced journalist wanting to move into science writing. A demonstrable love for science and engineering is a must, and a relevant degree or experience would be a distinct advantage.
The successful candidate will join a vibrant team and produce features and daily news stories covering the full range of process industries, from food to energy and from pharmaceuticals to materials. For this, you will need to have a nose for a story, enjoy asking questions, write in clear, correct English, and embrace opportunities to produce audio and video content.
Due to IChemE’s international nature, this position requires a willingness to work flexibly and to engage in business discussions outside of normal working hours. The position is based at our Rugby office although there is scope for the successful candidate to work from our London office. Only applicants eligible to work in the UK will be considered.
You will be required to travel to local and international events, and make contacts and build relationships at companies and universities around the world.
This is a full-time role based on 37.5 hours per week.
Starting salary will depend on experience. Benefits include a very generous pension scheme and flexitime.
