SCHOOL OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING – 3 Positions for Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Chemical and Environmental Engineering to take leadership roles in teaching and research.
The University of Queensland – Chemical Engineering is a recognised leader in chemical engineering research and teaching innovation in Australia. With 30 academic staff, 45 research staff, 130 PhD students, 100 PG coursework students and 450 undergraduate students, the school is a large, vibrant and dynamic place to work. The research budget for chemical engineering at UQ in 2011 was approximately $12 million, much of which was industry supported. This includes 3 fully funded industry Chairs. In 2012, the School will be launching an exciting 5 year integrated BE/ME in Chemical and Environmental Engineering. This has provided an opportunity to recruit several new academic staff to provide further leadership in teaching and research.
The School’s research strengths include chemical and environmental engineering, advanced energy systems, inorganic membranes and adsorption, nanomaterials and biomaterials, particle and process systems design, light metals processing, bioengineering, metallurgical engineering and water and waste management. Our academic and research staff publish widely in internationally acclaimed publications and have extensive research backgrounds.

The person
You should have a PhD in chemical or environmental engineering and your principal research field should complement one or more of the existing research strengths listed above. Preferably you have research and teaching expertise in the areas of chemical or environmental engineering. However, applicants with other expertise are also encouraged to apply as the appointment will be made on the basis of quality and potential to advance the research and teaching activities of the division.
A proven track record of leadership in your field of research, teaching innovation, supervision of higher degree research students and engagement with the profession and industry will be required at Senior Lecturer (Level C).
Remuneration
This is a full-time, continuing appointment at Academic Level B or C depending on experience. The remuneration package will be in the range $76,789 – $81,187 p.a. Level B or $94,066 – $108,464 Level C plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% (Total package will be in the range $89,843 to $106,688 Level B or $110,057 to $126,902 Level C). A part-time arrangement could be negotiated.
