This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the establishment of a new School of Engineering and to mould the development of your discipline in a fast-growing and ambitious environment.

Nazarbayev University was opened in July 2010 in Astana with the aim of being the leading university in Kazakhstan, the wider Central Asian region and beyond. The University has a unique vision to work in partnership with a number of the world’s most outstanding universities to introduce a new approach to university education and research in Kazakhstan. All teaching and business at Nazarbayev University is carried out in English.

The Nazarbayev University School of Engineering, in partnership with University College London, opened its doors on the 31st August 2011 with its first entry cohort of 140 students who had successfully completed the university’s one year Foundation Programme. The School is currently offering Bachelor degree programmes in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering and plans to introduce electrical engineering in 2012. Master of Science programmes will be introduced from 2014. The School will also have its own research programme, in partnership, where appropriate, with the university’s research centres in energy and life sciences.

The School is seeking to appoint further faculty at a number of levels to continue its growth and development. This represents the third round of recruitment for the School. Successful candidates will possess a doctorate, or an equivalent higher academic degree (such as the Kandidat Nauk/Candidate of Science), in a relevant discipline area. They will also be active researchers with, or with the potential to achieve, an internationally recognised track record of research.

These are full-time positions, although the duration of contracts is subject to negotiation
